Starting the transfer process
- Apply to NMSU.
- Request official transcripts from each institution you have attended. In order to be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly to NMSU from the institution electronically at admissions@nmsu.edu or mailed to:

Transferring from an NMSU Community College?
If you are a current student enrolled at one of NMSU's community college campuses (NMSU-Alamogordo, NMSU-Carlsbad (Southeast New Mexico College), NMSU-Doña Ana, or NMSU-Grants) and would like to see the transfer requirements, visit our NMSU Community College Transition page.
To start the transfer process submit your Change of Campus.
Once admitted, make your appointment with the Center for Academic Advising and Student Support (CAASS).
Make sure to add the NMSU-Las Cruces school code- 002657 to your FAFSA. If you have questions, contact your financial aid advisor.
Transfer admission requirements
- Application for admission and official college transcripts or e-transcripts mailed directly from each college or university attended.
- At least a 2.0 cumulative GPA in your college courses and 24 completed credit hours at a non-military college/university. Courses taken for college credit while enrolled in high school are not counted toward the 24 credit hours.
- Must be eligible to return to your last college or university.
If you have fewer than 24 completed college credit hours, you must fulfill the First Time Freshmen admission requirements.

Request an unofficial evaluation!
Couldn't find your institution on the course equivalency search? You can request an unofficial evaluation of your credits by submitting an evaluation request and attaching your transcript(s). We can then send you an unofficial evaluation of your credits and a degree plan for your intended major. Our unofficial evaluation request is intended for students seeking their first bachelor's degree. Transcripts from countries outside the US are not eligible for unofficial evaluation; however, they will be evaluated upon admission with the submission of an official foreign credential evaluation.

Engineering Technology and Surveying Engineering Articulation Agreements
The NMSU Department of Engineering Technology and Surveying Engineering (ETSE) also has articulation agreements that define which courses a student can take from another institution that will transfer into ETSE programs.
